ATHE (Awards for Training and Higher Education)
Africa Trade Academy (ATA) is an accredited ATHE (Awards for Training and Higher Education) centre effective June 2026. ATHE is a global awarding organisation regulated by the UK government’s Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual). The accreditation allows ATA to deliver ATHE-accredited courses across Africa. ATA joins the over 240 ATHE centres worldwide which provides ATHE qualifications and progression pathways.
ATHE offers a wide range of recognized qualifications which are designed to provide flexible and affordable pathways to university degrees and professional development. ATHE qualifications are recognized by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
ATHE offers qualifications from Level 3 to Level 7 with a strong focus on practical skills, critical thinking, and career readiness in the following fields
- Business and Management,
- Computing and IT
- Law
- Health and social care
ATHE Qualifications Equivalency and Progression
ATHE qualifications have equivalence to traditional university degrees. All ATHE Qualifications are fully accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC)
- ATHE Level 3 Qualification is recognised as a pre-university or foundation programme. It serves as a bridge for SHS graduates to access university education. Upon successful completion, learners can progress directly to Year 1 (Level 100) of a bachelor’s degree at accredited Ghanaian universities locally and globally.
- ATHE Level 4 Qualification is a recognised equivalent of first year university degree.
- ATHE Level 5 Qualification is a recognised equivalent of second year university degree
- ATHE Level 6 Qualification is a recognised equivalent of final year university degree
- ATHE Level 7 Qualification is a recognised equivalent of a post-graduate diploma designed for students aiming to progress to Master’s or MBA programmes locally and at top UK universities.
ATHE Qualifications and Requirements
- ATHE Level 3
- Programme Duration: 6 months.
- Entry Requirements:
- Aged 16 years and above
- At least three (3) Passes in WASSCE subjects including English Language
- Progression: candidates who obtain ATHE Level 3 qualifications will be admitted into level 100 at any university locally or internationally.
- ATHE Level 4 (120 credit) -regulated by OfQual and GTEC and are equivalent to level 100 at any university locally or internationally
- Programme Duration: 6 months
- Entry Requirements:
- At least five passes (D7 or above) in WASSCE subjects, including English and Maths)
- ATHE Level 3
- ATHE Level 5 (120 credit) regulated by OfQual and GTEC and are equivalent to Higher National Diploma
- Programme Duration: 6 months
- Entry Requirements
- Holder of ATHE Level 4 Diploma, OTHM or ABE equivalent qualifications
- Academic Progression: upon successful completion, applicants will be admitted into Level 300 of a degree programme in Ghana or elsewhere or final year university in the UK
- ATHE Level 6 (120 credit) regulated by OfQual and GTEC and is equivalent to a Bachelor Degree
- Programme Duration: 6 months
- Entry Requirements
- Holder of ATHE Level 5 or Higher National Diploma (HND) or OTHM or ABE Level 5
- Progression: upon successful completion of the ATHE Level 6 Diploma, learners will qualify to pursue an masters degree programme with any university in Ghana and elsewhere.
- ATHE Level 7 (120 credit) regulated by OfQual and GTEC and is equivalent to a post graduate diploma
- Duration: 6 months
- Entry Requirement
- Holder of a Bachelors Degree or ATHE Level 6 Diploma or OTHM or ABE Equivalent
- Progression: upon successful completion of ATHE Level 7 Diploma, learners will now qualify to pursue a top up programme (usually dissertation) in Ghana and elsewhere.
