Africa Trade Academy throughout June and July 2026 worked with the Liberia Chamber of Commerce, LCC to build capacity and developed resources to establish an AfCFTA Help Desk to support MSMEs access the continental markets under the AfCFTA.
Liberia signed the AfCFTA Agreement in 2018 and deposited its instrument of ratification in July 2023, becoming the 48th State Party of the AfCFTA. The country has subsequently developed and launched it’s National AfCFTA Implementation Strategy as well as established a National AfCFTA Implementation Committee.
To further support AfCFTA implementation in Liberia, the country’s chamber of commerce, Liberia Chamber of Commerce (LCC), which represents over 200 companies and eight business associations, was identified as a critical access point for MSMEs. Therefore, it was decided to set up a help desk with knowledgeable personnel and resources to be able to provide information and sign posting to resources and institutions within Liberia to facilitate the uptake of AfCFTA opportunities.
Africa Trade Academy therefore developed operational tools and information resources for the help desk officers as well as provided training on the AfCFTA agreement, and AfCFTA operational tools. Additionally, the setting up of the help desk was accompanied with training of 50 MSMEs in Liberia on Export Readiness and AfCFTA.
