Our CEO, Dode Seidu is with Jules Bertrand DAMIBA working with ECOWAS Commission staff and stakeholders to put forward a harmonised training resources pertaining to agrifood trade regulations in ECOWAS.
The ECOWAS Trade Liberalization Scheme has been in existence since 1976 as a trade tool to operationalize free circulation of originating products in ECOWAS Region.
Since it’s entry into force, a number of Protocols, Regulations, Codes and Supplemntary legislations have been adopted by Member States to facilitate trade in the region.
For actors in the agrifood trade, access to and knowledge of these regulations have been a challenge, contributing to non-compliance and even for some border agencies, their lack of awareness of these regulations is contributing to inconsistent application of these rules.
The harmonised manual is incorporating relevant sections of the ETLS, Customs Code, Common External Tarrif, SPS and Technical Regulations pertaining to agri-food trade in ECOWAS to create a reference resource for stakeholders.
