Rev. Yaw Odame Gyau (PhD)

Digital Education/Education Technologist

Rev. Yaw Odame Gyau (PhD), is a researcher and holds a PhD degree in Educational Technology and MPhil Education degree from Open University Malaysia (OUM) / Accra Institute of Technology (AIT). He also holds a Master of Arts degree in Advertising from the University College Kensington, London, a Diploma Certificate in Social Media & Citizen Journalism from MKFC Stockholm College, Sweden.  He also holds a BA in Graphic Design from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology, Kumasi, Ghana.

He is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Media Arts and Communication- Institute of Journalism (UniMAC-IJ) and currently the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Languages at the UniMAC-Institute of Languages. Prior to that, he was the Dean of the Faculty of PR, Advertising and Marketing (FOPAM), at the UniMAC-IJ. He has over 20 years of experience teaching experience spanning across all levels.

He was formerly the Head of the Advertising department of the erstwhile Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) for two successive terms. He is an instructor at the IPR Ghana professional development department. He has also worked with other tertiary institutions such as Christian Service University College, Kumasi and Islamic University College, Accra.  Prior to joining UniMAC, he was an assistant lecturer and Special Education Needs (SEN) tutor at Barking College, Romford, London, in 2005.

His active participation and contribution to international and local conferences and workshops are detailed as follows; The International conference on Managing Large Classes,
UCC (2010). The E-Learning Update Conference (2013), Johannesburg, South Africa. The International Power Reporting Conference (2014) WITTS University, Johannesburg, South Africa. Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Conference on Business Journalism (2014) WITTS University, Johannesburg, South Africa. The International E-Learning Africa Conference (2017), Balaclava, Mauritius and Kigali, Rwanda (2018). Others include Workshop on Overview of Open and Distance Learning (Train the Trainers Induction Workshop). Organized by the Commonwealth of Learning and the RETRIDOL, University of Ghana, Legon. The IAA International Conference, (2018) Kempinski, Accra. Academic Writing and Publication Workshop (2018) British Council, Accra.
