Trade Facilitation Inclusive

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and small-scale cross-border traders form the backbone of Africa’s trade and economic activity. Yet, they face disproportionate challenges in accessing markets due to complex procedures, high transaction costs, and regulatory barriers. Inclusive trade facilitation policies are essential to unlock their potential, reduce barriers, and foster sustainable growth under frameworks such as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

This course is designed to equip government officials with the knowledge and tools to design and implement reforms that simplify trade processes, leverage technology, and create supportive financial and regulatory environments for MSMEs and small traders.

By the end of the program, participants will be able to:

  • Identify key constraints faced by MSMEs in international trade and cross-border operations.
  • Design simplified trade procedures and single window systems to reduce costs and delays.
  • Leverage technology solutions to enhance efficiency and inclusivity in trade facilitation.
  • Develop supportive financial and regulatory frameworks tailored to MSME needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate trade facilitation reforms to ensure sustainability and measurable impact.
